Virtual Trutrends is a subsidiary of Genadyne. The project is an interface that permits a medical instrument to communicate via the GSM network to a web site that permits interaction with the instrument. Primarily they're looking for someone to create the web site, but there may be an opportunity to participate in the hardware/software interface design as well; per Mr. Goh there is only one engineer working on it right now, and he may need assistance. I'm not sure exactly how far along they are with it at present.

Description of Project:
UDS has a database management system running under SCO Unix that provides comprehensive support for fuel suppliers including customer records, degree day calculations, delivery date projections, billing and payment records, etc. Their DBMS is accessible on a network and supports simultaneous users with appropriate multiuser safeguards. The system has been in use since 1970 and has been frequently upgraded. But it still has a text based user interface.
They want to upgrade the system to a "Windows" (GUI) interface but keep all of its functionality and reliability. They state that their DBMS is "C3" which I have not heard about before. They have utilities for exporting all data so that it can be imported into a new DBMS. They prefer to keep the system on UNIX but want a Windows friendly user interface. They asked for recommendations for the best DBMS to use. Kristiansen called me because I live close to his business. I told him I would pass on his request to the LICN. If you are interested, please contact Kristiansen directly, but please cc the info back to me so I will know if anyone has responded.

Description of Project:
Mark is with Sag Harbor Industries, which is a contract manufacturing house (they don't do design); he would like about 10 directories to hand out to clients who are looking for someone to design a product for them. They can be the existing copies which Peter Buitenkant has; send them to his attention at the above address. Let me know when they are sent, or if there are not 10 copies available - in which case I would ask Jerry Brown (I assume) to get more up to date ones. His customers are OEMs nationwide, but mainly in the Northeast, mostly on LI; they tend to be very budget sensistive.
He pitched me aboout having a booth at LISAT next year - says it would cost about $300, including one attendee. I think we should look at this, as we have considerable money in the treasury, and could use some advertising exposure. He will bring a contract to the next meeting for our examination.

Description of Project:
They are a radiology house. In Auguast, their phones started randomly hanging up calls; it is a major problem for them, costing them a lot of business (their phone menu even mentions their having major problems with their phones). They have changed their phone system twice, once replacing the Toshiba CTX 100, then replacing it with a NEC Ultra Elite (15 phones); have changed from POTS lines to VOIP with no effect. They have added a lot of shielding, moved the phone system, added a steel shield behind phone system (hard to evaluate from the description how good the shielding might be). Other locations in Great Neck and Garden City don't have the problem. Two cell phone towers within a mile. They are in a stand alone building, brick walls. Problem not as bad at night; still have on Saturday. IT equipment not affected. LAN is cable based; wireless on site but not used much. It would be nice to bring in a spectrun analyzer and antennas and probe around, or bring in an EMI house. This sounds like a good problem for Richard Mohr, who lives not too far away.
One weakness of our referral system is that there is no feedback as to whether the customer receives any help. If anyone follows up on this, please let Peter Buitenkant know; I would also appreciate knowing; although I am an hour away, if no one else has an interest, I might be able to help.

Here's some descriptive info on what I'm looking for in a millimeter wave(60 GHz radio frequency) layout person.
Some one who's had some experience at very high frequency analog design layout (e.g. VCO's, phase lock loops, mixers, modulators, demodulators, multipliers etc.) Very high frequency means for my project >50 GHz, but that may not be too common, so reasonably speaking something >10 GHz.
They should be familiar with on chip transmission lines, proximity effects, equal length runs of lines, inductor layout, isolation techniques, etc.

Just took a call on the telephone referral line, as follows:
Jack Parker, of Internation Data Search (a contract house - not he principal) at 888-832-4410 is seeking an RF designer familiar with Agilent ADS. The project is a 6-12 month gig for an ultrawideband microwave application, and is located "outside of NYC".
Anyone interested should contact Jack directly.

This inquiry is probably not applicable to your organization, but if it is, fine. If not, perhaps you could recommend companies who specialize in custom-built assembly machines. The application is for the assembly of parts used in medical syringes.
Thank you.

I have upgraded this form so the "Bad Data" dead-end without explanation no longer appears. Instead, an explanation will be offered and a chance to correct errors without having to re-enter valid data.
I have also changed the address so that the email generated by this form will go to the referrals mailing list.
So I have used the form to send this notice to all full members.
